SUGAR FREE Cake Pops

My kids love cake pops. They love them now and they loved them when they were toddlers. But is there such thing as a healthy cake pop for kids? What about healthy cake pops for toddlers?
Make a FUN party treat that is sure to be a huge hit, without the sugar!

What kid does not love a tasty treat that they can hold in their hand and enjoy? You won’t have to buy overpriced cake pops again with this easy recipe. It only requires a handful of ingredients, and it is quick and easy – even for beginner bakers. Soon, you’ll be making cafe-worthy cake pops in no time.

Decorating these bite-sized desserts is loads of fun and makes for a great summer project with kids. On those long summer days, when they start to exclaim how bored they are we love to bake a yummy treat and these sugar free cake pops are a treat that won’t add loads of sugar into their day – making Mom and kids happy.

My kids certainly do – they would eat cake pops every day if I would let them! One of my main concerns with cakes and cookies has always been the amount of sugar. I will bet that is something that you are concerned about too.

You can ABSOLUTELY make fun treats for your kids, without worrying about ANY sugar!

I am going to share recipes for BOTH Chocolate and Vanilla SUGAR FREE Cake Pops.

Tips and Tricks for making Cake Pops:

  • Add some food coloring to the white chocolate melts to make a color of your choosing. Keep in mind that food coloring is very concentrated, so less is typically more. Start small and add a few more drops as needed.
  • Let the cake cool completely before you begin to crumble it. Seriously, let it cool. If the cake is too warm, it will be difficult for the cake pops to stay together. If you have the time, make the cake a day ahead of time, so it has sufficient time to cool.
  • Blend, blend, blend your cake. The more finely you can make the cake crumbs, the more even they will hold their shape in the ball form for the cake pop. You don’t want large chunks of cake adding bumps and lumps to the cake pops.
  • Ensure to place your cake pops on parchment paper, NOT wax paper. Lie them carefully on a parchment lined baking tray to dry. This will give them a flat side but make them easier to transport if you’re traveling with them.
SHORTCUT ALERT: The fastest and easiest way to make these is to use a bundle that includes one chocolate cake mix and one vanilla or yellow one.

The Pillsbury bundle on Amazon also COMES WITH SUGAR FREE ICING!

I also really like the Swerve Bundle that includes one chocolate mix and one yellow cake mix. You can order this on Amazon too!

Cuisine American
Servings 24 pops

Ingredients

Chocolate Coating

Instructions

  • Make the cake according to the package directions (that will typically require the eggs, oil, water and vanilla), and let cool completely.
  • Crumble the cake into a large bowl. Because of this step, you do not have to worry about making a uniform cake, or even a cake that looks good; just get it done!
  • Add the melted butter and stir to combine well. Take about 2 or 3 tablespoons of the mixture and squeeze together, then roll into balls. If the mixture won’t hold together, add a tablespoon or two of water to the bowl and mix in.
  • Place the balls on parchment paper (I like to place this on a baking sheet for easy transferring!) and freeze one hour.

Chocolate Coating

  • Place the chocolate and butter in a glass or ceramic bowl set over a pan of simmering water. Stir until melted and smooth.
  • To make the pops, dip a lollipop stick in the melted chocolate and then press it into one of the cake balls, then dip the cake ball into the chocolate.
  • Push the end of the stick into a piece of cardboard or Styrofoam so it stands upright.
  • Sprinkle with sprinkles if desired (I really like to use SUGAR FREE Sprinkles) before the chocolate coating hardens.
  • Repeat with the remaining cake balls and sticks.
  • Enjoy!
